Doing *anything* other than the absolute minimum of necessary commands from root (i.e. "su" only when necessary to execute a single privileged command) is asking for trouble. For the record: I wouldn't hire him, Fred Gwinn (my boss) wouldn't hire him. Would *you* trust him as de-facto system administrator for your clients' systems?
