Message-ID: <5843@louie.udel.EDU> Date: 6 Dec 88 17:17:47 GMT Sender: mmdf@udel.EDU Lines: 15 I have just received MINIX 1.2 for an IBM PC/XT 640k. It runs nicely on two floppys. I had a problem with the printer until I read its source and changed the bootup monitor to the mono device. IBM color cards do not - in general - have printer ports. My big problem is the hard drive. When I attempt to execute the dd command specified in READ_ME I get a message that /dev/hd0 cannot be opened. When I try the h option at boot, I get the message about the wrong magic number in the super block. When I try to make a file system on the drive, I get a message from mkfs that put_block couldn't write. I've tried putting the file system on all four partitions in a variety on size combinations. Anybody had this problem? What did you do? Thanks for any help. Ted Kell <"9274::kell"@nssdca.gsfc.nasa.gov> for internet or if you're on SPAN.
