Well, you don't have to download them -- they are already on the machine that you are reading the news on! Just use the "w" command to write each to a file that ends with .uue. Then, xfr the file to your DOS box, and unencode it. You don't have "uudecode"? Check you local unix machine; the source code is probably there. Oh, next you'll need one of the MSDOS archiver programs.
