Addison Wesley? ) This may not be `strictly' classic, but it is full of those little tidbits that you usually have to dig for to find in other books of this genre. I would rank it up there with Kernighan & Plauger's _Software Tools In Pascal_. Bentley also wrote a good book about efficient programming (when and when not to bother optimizing parts of your code, space/time tradeoffs, etc.), but I'll be damned if I can remember the name!
