I'm having the following problem under Minix/ST. I don't know if it applies to PC 1.3. The problem is as follows: If I mount a file system on a dir which itself also is on a mounted file systems, some programs fail, since they don't seem to recognize pathnames properly. The problem can be reproduced by: boot using the original floppy. insert root disk. insert /usr1 disk on request. log on as root cd /usr mount something on say the ast dir (e.g. in my case: /etc/mount /dev/hd3 ast) go into the newly mounted filessystem (e.g. cd ast/usr) do a pwd. When I did this I expected a pathname /usr/ast/usr. Instead I got /ast/usr The same problem occurs after applying the recently posted patches to use the disk as root fs, when mounting another partition. I think the problems are related to pwd, and file systems that are not mounted in /, but I'm not really sure. Anyone any suggestions? -- Frans Meulenbroeks (meulenbr@cst.prl.philips.nl) Centre for Software Technology ( or try: ...!mcvax!philmds!prle!cst!meulenbr)
