Here in Moto Urbana just about every terminal connects to a terminal server, and comes in over the network to the host. In fact, back when we were Gould, we didn't have any serial lines on some of our machines! Also, you can get the effect of a switch box from a terminal server. For example, we have the console lines for some of our machines connected to the terminal server. A programmer can use his terminal in his office, and connect through the server to the machine console, so you can do all your singleuser stuff from the comfort of your office.
