If you *do not* fill in the "default router" field, K-STAR will use existing RIP (Berkeley's "Routing Information Protocol"; a TCP/IP version of RTMP) packets on the network to discover gateways, again retaining information for approximately 5 minutes (RIP packets are "supposed to" be generated every 30 seconds or so).
