Keywords: Inactivity Probe Message-ID: <478@mmlai.UUCP> Date: 12 Dec 88 23:14:34 GMT Organization: Martin Marietta Labs, Baltimore, MD Lines: 21 A while back someone mentioned that the CMU-TEK TCP/IP implementation for the VAX/VMS machines has real problems communicating with HP-UX TCP/IP. The error, as described in the patch was: $ ! This patch removes the CMU-TEK inactivty probe as the packet sent $ ! causes HP-UX based systems to reset the connection upon receiveing $ ! this packet. This is NOT a problem in CMU-TEK but at best an example of $ ! different interpretations of the standards involved and at worst a $ ! bug in the HP-UX implementation. Indeed, this patch needed to be applied, as the session would immediately be terminated at the first inactivity probe. However, the sessions will still automatically log out from time to time. Could someone at HP Networking shed some light on this for me? ********************************************************************* Tony Burzio * A uVAXstation 2000 makes a great planter...
