The 80 column screen used to be made by PBJ ($70-$100 for the card, and $50-$75 for a monochrome monitor), and was definitely worth it, and faster than the 'hi-res' screens. It also used a lot less precious memory, as all of the screen RAM was on the card. These days, I suspect that Disto is probably the only one still making 80 column cards.
