If a user runs a job in the background, and then terminaled a window, The
pseudo-terminal doesn't always get reset when closed.  When a user logs in
and is connected to one of these pty's, it thinks the current length is 34
rows. "stty everything" with confirm this.

execute
	stty rows 0 columns 0
either in your .login file, or when the problem occurs.
