As relates to VAXen running BSD4.2+ and derivitives (Ultrix, Xinu, etc):

We would like to be able to determine what type of VAX processor a
program is currently executing on (e.g. a MicroVAX, 8600 series, 8800 series,
etc.).  A dim recollection pointed to gethostbyname(), et.al., but a re-RTFM
doesn't confirm this recollection.

Any pointers on how to do this in a _reasonably_ portable way (amongst BSD-
derivitives) would be appreciated.
