Keywords: apollo x xv11r3 Message-ID: <15677@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu> Date: 9 Dec 88 05:09:42 GMT Organization: Indiana University, Bloomington, IN Lines: 30 Does anyone have a working version of X V11R3 for the Apollos? We have been running the version from MIT (V11R3) with fixes 1 and 2 applied and the patches from casey@ucla applied (thanks casey!). The problems we are having involve xterms failing to come up at all, freezing being executing the command on the "-e" line, or failing after running for a while. I suspect that Apollo has some bugs in their tty/pty code which doesn't help things, but I thought I'd ask and see if there is a way to work around those problems. We also get an occassional screwup with the bordering and scroll regions of X windows on the Apollos (color nodes). The colors usually have white horizontal glitches in them. In addition I've seen several times when the rubber-band cursor is malformed. This is in addition to the problems with speed (a DN3000 is painfully slow) but I can live with that since the server is not supposed to be tuned. By the way, when we bought our Apollos about a year and a half ago Apollo said that they would be puting out an X port as an official product. They even have faked up "X" icons in some of their screen shots. I don't suppose anyone knows when they are planning to release this? (Just as soon as they translate the MIT code into Pascal? :-)) III Usenet: iuvax!jec UUU I UUU ARPANet: jec@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu U I U Phone: (812) 855-7729 U I U U.S. Mail: James E.
