That's the right thing to do. > WRONG! Of course RET should cause auto-filling when in AUTO-FILL-MODE! This seems like a fairly dogmatic reply when the previous message showed that this is not universally agreed upon. I agree with Dale Worley on this one but am open to arguments on the merits of the other behavior. WHY do you consider this behavior "broken/wrong/screwed up" and why should we not be using autofill-mode for this? Note: auto fill function documentation says: > In auto-fill mode, inserting a space at a column beyond fill-column > automatically breaks the line at a previous space. Carrage return is not mentioned. Implimentation Note: It is probably easier for you to rebind your key to a "fill-and-newline" function call than it would be for others to redefine a function as fundimental as "newline" if auto fill behavior was changed as you request. -- Lynn =============================================================== Lynn Slater -- lrs@esl.com ESL/TRW 495 Java Drive, Box 3510, Sunnyvale, Ca 94088-3510 Office (408) 738-2888 x 4482; Home (415) 796-4149 ===============================================================
