Summary: control message unmoderating rec.humor.funny from ndla!root Message-ID: <224@verdix.verdix.com> Date: 15 Dec 88 19:00:07 GMT Sender: netnews@verdix.com Reply-To: nomad@verdix.com (Lee Damon) Organization: Verdix Western Operations; Aloha, OR Lines: 28 I just received a message telling me that scifi!ndla!root had unmoderated rec.humor.funny. Now, since I had never heard of that site before, I went to the maps. There is no map for ndla, and the map for scifi does not mention ndla as a connection. I was doubting because of what was being done, but when I saw by whom (or should I say !whom), I decided not to do it. But now I wonder - how many sites just blindly followed the control message (or have news blindly follow all control messages)? Rec.humor.funny is going to get unfunny very quickly! I stayed out of the JEDR flamewars (though I think he was _very_ wrong in doing what he did and how he did it) but when a non-existant site starts sending control messages that impact on the same group(s) involved, I just have to wonder.... Consider this a flame at ndla (if they even exist) for their bad choice in SysAdmins (if they even have one). I would have mailed it, but since the site doesn't exist, that is a bit hard to do. nomad (root@verdix.com) --------------------- Lee Damon UUCP: verdix!------- UUCP: verdix!nomad \ \ Internet: nomad@verdix.com {tektronix,hp-pcd}!orstcs!castle!nomad FidoNet: 105/302 - The Castle BBS - 503-629-5841 / agora!
