The rail system in Peloponnesus (a large peninsula in southern Greece) also has the wide rails; the rest of Greece is standard. These folks are really paranoid about being invaded by northern Greece (more :-) than you realise). BTW, the British drive on the left side of the road in a ploy to create impassable traffic jams if they're ever invaded; it's worked great for 922 years and counting :-))).
