It's just the same as pirating software. Besides, D&D is so full of crocks you'd do better making your own tables and game system up from first principles. I'd recommend the system Steve Jackson came up with for his first FRP game, The Fantasy Trip, as a source of ideas. It's the cleanest and simplest system I've ever seen. Unfortunately it's now out of print, due to a dispute with Metagaming. Maybe you can pick up a copy in a used book store or something.
