I have not been following the discussions in this group so excuse me if what I want has appeared many times before. Because our site does not store old News and further, nobody I know uses an amiga other than as a mini-video arcade I hope the knowledgable net-landers of UofT will come to my aid. What I need is some advice on the various Amiga packages available. In general I need to know the spec's, ie. speeds, chips, ram etc. of the amigas and peoples' experiences with their systems. A few days of reading this group's postings makes one suspicious about hard disks. Is this warranted? Where are the best deals in town? Specifically, I also need to know the availibility and capabilities of various ``scientific'' compilers such fortran, c etc. Information with regards to modems and communication packages would also be appreciated. What is all this about the Euro-virus? Info about the Amiga 3000 would be appreciated too. Is there any literature worth reading? Any and all info appreciated. Please send directly to me. Many Thanks, Jim
