Send MC a note explaining that you have not received the merchandise (it helps to enclose a copy of a letter to the vendor asking why the bill has been posted but the merchandise not shipped -- they're not supposed to do that under their contract with MC, Visa, etc.). Under Federal law, you can have your credit card company credit you even if you've paid (for up to one year) if you have not received or have returned the merchandise, but not paying in the first place tends to be more of an attention getter. My experience with MasterCard is that they are pretty good about following up with vendors. Once you do receive the merchandise and pay the bill, you DO NOT have to pay interest for period during which payment was withheld (why pay early? The interest on your NOW account may not be enough to pay the postage on the letter asking the vendor why the bill without the merchandise, but it's better than nothing.
