The Supra h/d utilities will allow you to format up a hard drive with partition sizes up to 32 megs (maybe even more, i havent tried).... Now you may say "Whats the Big Deal about having 32 meg partitions?", Well as you may know, GEMDOS presently will only allow you to have a maximum of 14 hard drive partitions.... What this means is that a maximum of 14 x 16 megs = 224 megs.... The maximum amount of hard drive storage under GEMDOS is 224 megs.... But since with the Supra Utils you can now go up to 32 meg partitions, this means the maximum hard drive storage addressable is doubled now to 448 megs..! Now for the snag... anyone who has fiddled with h/d's will quickly notice how much it slows down when a partition fills up... Now with partitions at 32 megs, this slow down is incredible.... It gets to be slower than a floppy !! Speed up prgs like FATSPEED have really helped to alleviate this problem.. But unfortunately FATSPEED does not work with partitions bigger than 16 meg..... What I need is for the author or someone to Rewrite FATSPEED so that it will address 32 meg partitions, thereby eliminating the slow-down problem... Anyone out there with any ideas???? ------------------------------------ Reply to Michael Kwan {USERQ0QM@UALTAMTS}
