Please, nobody start the rumor that Megas are faster than 1040/520 ST's!

It's only because of the Mega ROMs, not because the machine is any
faster.  In fact, I think new 1040s and 520s are shipping with Mega ROMs
(I could be wrong) so it won't be faster.  (It'll be slightly slower: an
extra Megabyte to clear for each program load.)
