OK,  I go  down to level 14, and get the power gem.

as I'm leaving,I hear a click.  I head upstairs and find  my
only way out is now a solid wall.  Am I stranded on levels 13&14
to roam forever?  I think not.  Some help at this stage of my 
quest  wouldbe greatly appreciated.  I don't know what to do.

I've checked every wall (I think) for switches,without luck.
