My boss gave me a Genius mouse LAST Christmas.  So far, I haven't noticed 
any problems with it, although it does have the annoying problem that 
you have to hold down one of the mouse keys when you plug it in to 
the serial port for it to mimic a Microsoft mouse.  Other than that, 
I've used it with DESQview, EasyCad, and Smalltalk/V without a hitch.
