I haven't actually looked closely at the Mac II color monitor, but it is a common side effect of the contruction of the shadow mask in monitors. It is very difficult to build a large, color monitor without one or two of the lines, so Apple probably couldn't find a good, reasonably priced monitor without one. Brian Smokefoot
