Subject: Mac+ Freezes on disk insertion

I am experiencing a frustrating problem with my Mac+.
Whenever I insert a disk into my external floppy drive when
the Open File dialog box is active, the system freezes.  I
cannot move the mouse or use the keyboard or anything.

1) Any idea what is happening?

2) It is very annoying to have to reboot.  Can anyone suggest
a set of incantations to use if I bring up the debugger
window via the programmer's switch?
