Subject: Strange (?) system behavior

MPW 2.02 spent most of the day crashing with errors like "The
Application MPW has suddenly quit."  Also, every now and then the
systems just hangs and must be rebooted.  I also noticed that the memory
reported in About the Finder pops up and down by 6-7K every second.  The
largest unused block goes from 4495 to 4489 then back to 4495 about once
a second.  Does this sound symptomatic of a viral infection??

Any information is appreciated.
