This terminal was made both with and without the printer.  My guess is that
something is causing the firmware to conclude that no printer is present.
Perhaps the power and/or data cables to the printer assembly are
disconnected.  Perhaps the printer has failed and is no longer signalling
"I'm here" to the terminal.  Does the printhead move a little at power-on?
