I should add one note with respect to the copyright notice as
several people asked.

You can modify the code and add new features. However, you
should leave a notice in it which determines where the code
originally came from. The copyright notice is only relevant 
if somebody wants to take it and sell it as a product or register
it with the government. 

The directory browser is not a Xerox product;it is unsupported.
