Run dired on the directory containing the file, tag it for deletion (press 'd'), press 'x' to delete tagged files. Dired displays buffer containing the files to be deleted (*Deletions*) and asks for yess/no confirmation. The "foo bar" file is displayed as "foo". Confirm deletion and you get error message: Deletions failed: ("foo").
