Despite of the interesting numbers,  here is one suggestion for Phil and
others that are into benchmarking 3.X cc vs GCC:

A head-to-head apple-to-apple comparison is to benchmark 4.X cc with
gcc 1.3X.  The reason is simple.  Xsun results only vounch for differences
between locally opted programs vs globally opted programs.
