   Does anyone have a pointer to Kawaguchi's "meta-ball" paper? 
 (or better yet - a copy of it?) I seem to remember that it was
 from a Japanese graphics conference, but cannot seem to find the
 reference anywhere. 

   The only lead I have now is the technical notes on the film
 "Bio-Sensor" that names their muscle definition technique
 as "bio-metaball". This film was presented at SIGGRAPH '84
 so the first metaball article would be in '83 or before.
