Normally, I let garbage like this go by, and don't give it a second thought. First off if you can do a better job, get off your butt and do it, don't complain because someone took the time and effort to make up diff/.tar files, no body on the network is getting paid for keeping diff/etc and making them available for distribution. Secondly, you could do things the way that I originally did when I upgraded from v1.1(ie. collect every little file and do it all by hand). Going from 1.1 to 1.3x took a few weeks on and off. Thirdly, yesterday I wanted a plain v1.3b/c(stupidly didn't keep mine intact), so I copied all the files to the Unix machine, I am writing this from, and applied those "sloppy" .tar files. It took me appx. 2 hours to setup and apply all the diffs and upgrades, some things still need to be added(for my own usage), but it is a considerable savings in time from above.
