killer!dono says it better than I possibly could, so I will just add
a hearty amen to his flame.

I upgraded from 1.2 to 1.3d with the .tar file from bugs.nosc.mil.  It took
awhile, because I am not very unix literate.  Like, probably 100 hours.  I
probably made every mistake that can be made.  BUT...I don't blame the
integrity of the .tar file.  I made the mistakes, and when I finally got
them all straightened out, the 1.3d system ran fine.
