BUT... I don't see any conflict there. UNIX is just a programming model. There's no reason you can't have an operating system that supports those 30 or so core system calls... and can thus run UNIX software... that has any file security you want. I don't care what the thing looks like underneath, so long as I can run my UNIX programs and never have to parse weird file names (like PROJECTS*PETER.ALARMS/FOR(-1) or _DRA0:[USERS.PETER]ALARMS.FOR;32 or SY0:[310,320]ALARMS.FOR;2).
