Message-ID: <8901131822.AA06183@csc-lons.arpa> Date: 13 Jan 89 18:22:12 GMT Sender: daemon@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Organization: The Internet Lines: 14 Ultrix 3.0 (and 2.4) seem to have simplified this problem by instituting a control file (/etc/svcorder) to specify what service(s) and which order. i.e. BIND, YP, LOCAL for name resover, yellow pages, and/or local /etc/hosts. The system functions (gethostbyxxx) use this file to determine where to look, and in what order, for resolving hosts names.
