         Bill, thanks for the answers.
         
         However, Redmond wants $22.00 (ouch!) for the cable. Although
         I assume that they use good quality cables and connectors, I
         think that is a good $8 overpriced (I could be wrong) for a 4
         pin to 2 RCA jacks cable.  If anyone has this cable, I would
         like to know if you think it was worth the price.  If someone
         knows the SVHS pinout on the JVC HR-S8000U recorder I can
         hack together a cable. 
         
         Also, thanks for the lead on the VI-500 interface.  It sounds
         like what I am looking for.  Do you know the price?  I would
         guess around (hope..hope) $25-$40??.
