I know now for sure that speed is not the problem.

But why , o why , don't I get the OK-response when I type
an AT-command.
Let me explain a little :

A few weeks ago I bought this BEST-2400-PLUS modem to replace my
BEST-1200-PLUS modem wich I used the last year with full satisfaction.

All I did was disconnect the power- and the RS232-cable from the 1200-modem
and connect them to the 2400-modem..simple as that ! I used the Power-supply
unit which came with the 2400-modem.
I switched the power on and saw that the lights which had to lit up,
according the manual,were really on; the next thing I had to do was typing
an AT-command and check if the characters appeared on the monitor, they did ,
so the ECHO was allright .
But then....when I hit the ENTER-key, the cursor jumped back to the first
position of the same line and no OK-response ...!!!

According the manual, I had to check the transmission speed of my computer,
so I tried all possible (and impossible) speeds with KERMIT and ZLINK,
 .. (Yes Dave ,  I have paid; perhaps the only one from abroad ;-)) ..
 without any success.

I went back to the dealer; he connected the modem to an MSDOS-computer
and .....?? RIGHT. No problem ! With the first AT-command he received
a nice OK-response :-(  !!??

Anyone have any ideas why an Apple,which works fine with a 1200-modem,
shouldn't work with a 2400-modem ???
I'll appreciate any help .

P.s. The modem supports the following protocols :
     CCITT V21/22/23/22bis  and two BELL protocols (300 and 1200 ?)
