I haven't talked with Kevin (who wrote the Epson driver) yet, so I don't know if he uses the same interleave scheme the ImageWriter driver does to get the better-than screen resolution (horizontally). My point is that if the inkjet printer in question does work with the Epson driver, it probably won't print at the printer's best resolution, like the LaserWriter (which is better than the ImageWriter, but not nearly as good as it could be) or the ImageWriter-LQ, which uses a driver virtually identical to the ImageWriter. The ImageWriter DOES get better than screen resolution, but only if you use Better Text.
