I gather from what someone says it does that for text: suppose you were using an 8 point font. Text on the screen would be displayed using the 8 point font, but when it came time to printing it the program would instead use a 16 point font, halving the vertical and horizontal spacing. So there still remains the question -- will it do that with the EPSON driver, and what happens with draw graphics (lines, rectangles, circles, ovals, etc.)? By the way, the GS/OS Epson driver does work just fine with the HP DeskJet (emulating an Epson). If you print out stuff from a paint program like Paintworks Gold or Deluxe Paint II you do get continuous lines -- horizontal and vertical are smooth, anythingelse of course is slightly sawtoothed. Both PWG and DP use teh GS/OS driver (if you change its name the name they say their driver has changes too) but somewhat differently. Both appear to only get 72 dpi, even though the printer can go up to 200. Both provide a "50% reduction" mode; it works on PWG, not on DP. DP claims to have "better text", "bettter color", and "draft" modes: I can't tell any difference between them and between them and how PWG does it. What's interesting is that in both DPII and PWG the dialogues for Choose Printer and Page SetUp are identical; the one for Page SetUP in fact carries a (c) StyeWare notice. They have different Print dialogues: the one for DPII also carries the (c) Styleware notice. (So you dont' have to look it up, DPII is by El. Arts, PWG Activision/Version Soft.) Since the printing seems to be determined by whatever it i{ that came from Styleware (possibly the Epson driver) is it reaonable ot assume that what I'd get from AWGS wouldn't be any different from what I get from either DPII or PWG?
