I can't tell you for sure about a //c, but I've had an Apple //e
monochrome monitor and an RF modulator hooked to a color TV set connected
to my //e for years and have never had any problems.  I just used a
regular old RCA splitter adaptor into the monitor jack on the back of the
//e and plugged both cables in.  I would imagine it drops the power on the
signal, but I've never noticed any difference.  This is speaking just from
personal experience, I have no technical knowledge of whether this is "A
Good Thing" or not...
