Whenever I moved my ST wouldn't boot, and the 4 inch drop fixed things. However, do not do this if you have an internal drive. The best way to fix the loose chips problem is to get an anti-static wrist strap and attach it to the chassis, and reseat the socketed chips by hand. After I'd done the 4 inch drop about 3 times I had to have all the solder connections redone.
