Design Div. -ColoSpgs Lines: 12 Why doesn't Atari make the mother board upgradable on the 1040ST etc (i.e. a switch option to allow both 256K and 1M chips). I have seen this on AT boards etc. Dave Don't get me wrong... I really like my Atari (and that other computer I own that starts with a 'A'). But the marginal cost of upgradability between the two types of memory for the capability gained isn't very great. Why wasn't this done to begin with? Supposedly the MMU supports DRAM refresh for 1 megabit chips. Also, why doesn't the MMU provide some protection?
