This workstation sounds very similar to the one made by Integrated Solutions (ISI). Can anyone enlighten me more about the 3100 to understand the differences between the two products? Integrated Solution has been shipping Advantedge 2000 workstation for a few months and announced the product in December 1988. Advantedge 2000 is also based on R2000 operating at 16.67MHz. This UNIX workstation has an on-board SCSI and Ethernet. The major differences in the system are Operating System: DEC uses Ultrix ISI uses RISC/os (UMIPS) or ISI's UNIX "Dual Universe" which can run 4.3BSD and Sys V.3 simultaneously. Similarities: Size: Both look about the same size UNIX: Both have a version of UNIX I/O: Both have SCSI and Ethernet. ISI uses a 80186 compatible NEC V50 for I/O processing. Does anyone know what the 3100 uses? Has anyone come across any performance numbers? Pricing: Comparable I will appreciate any information (or pointers to info.) on the DECstation 3100. Thanks in advance, seenu ..!pyramid!isieng!seenu
