I have a qustion, too :-) I'm only speaking of MicroEmacs and Freemacs (sp?) editors on a PC. At work, I have a Kaypro 286i which is connected to a 3COM network. MicroEmacs works fine when the net has not been installed, but working requires that I use the net, and that's why I find MicroEmacs and other Emacs-type public domain editors unusable. They lock up the machine, either immediately after invocation, or sometimes afterwards. I have been advised to find Epsilon, which should be a better working Emacs-clone in this respect, but for now I'll have to use Word Perfect's Program Editor, Microsoft Word and other programs (that I find not as handy in program editing as Emacs or even lousy look-a-likes like MicroEmacs). Does anybody know what I should do to MicroEmacs (diffs?) to prevent locking and "Unexpected network error - Retry, Ignore or Cancel" messages upon invocation? I have a MicroEmacs 3.9e.
