  Sorry for the double posting, but I forgot to say why you want to
be in color mode:  graphics modes (640x480 and 320x200-64 or 256 color
modes, that is) are available only if the monitor and adapter are being
used in a "color" mode (grey scale, if the monitor is really monochrome).
