The RS fan is 27 cfm as opposed to the original 32 cfm, but is so < quiet that you think something is wrong -- because you can hear the disk arm < positioning. Yup... this conversion is quite effective, as long as the Mac II in question isn't too "fully stuffed" (I'd be concerned about doing this mod to a Mac II with more than two cards, for example). My Mac II has been running this way since June '87, with nary a problem. I have the original version of the fan-replacement instructions on file here; I'll email them to anyone who wants 'em.
