Message-ID: <1253@etive.ed.ac.uk> Date: 18 Jan 89 14:45:57 GMT Sender: news@etive.ed.ac.uk Reply-To: nick@lfcs.ed.ac.uk (Nick Rothwell) Organization: Laboratory for the Foundations of Computer Science, Edinburgh U Lines: 20 Here's an interesting question for you. Suppose somebody (living in the UK) buys a Mac in the US - after all, Mac+'s over there are pretty cheap (what's the current going price in $$$ - 1300 or so?). He brings it back to the UK. And then goes to live in Nigeria. What's the situation regarding after-sales support (both software - new system releases etc., and hardware-maintenance)? Do Apple have offices in Africa? Does anybody know about export restrictions from the west, or import restrictions to Nigeria, for such equipment (we don't think the USA => UK bit is a problem)? Do Mac+'s have clever switching power supplies (mine claims it can drink 60Hz, although it only mentions 240volts)? By the way - the person wanting to do this is Danish. (gnnnnh!)
