It is very nice and quiet. In fact, too quiet at times. It can be hard to tell if the machine is really running and accessing the hard drive or is locked! The only qualm I have about it is that it is slower than other hard drives after a crash. I have a friend with a Jasmine 80 and his will pop right back up after a crash like nothing happened. My hd on the other hand can take up to 30 or 40 seconds getting back up. No big deal to most ppl, but I crash my drive a lot with all the program development that I do. Michael O'Rourke
