Everyone made it sound like I had intentionally made a change and I was very puzzled. The subject lines "/titan/rif/ss/..." were a MISTAKE! It won't happen again. As for "The Unix kernel has always supported 8 bit characters in file names".....my memory seems to be faulty. 4.2 didn't let you use the eighth bit. I also forgot to mention (although I did remember) that 4.1 didnt' let you use 0200|'/'. I guess they decided that it looked too much like a slash when displaying the name. William LeFebvre
