Message-ID: Date: 19 Jan 89 01:58:11 GMT Sender: usenet@rice.edu Organization: Rutgers Univ., New Brunswick, N.J. Lines: 13 Approved: Sun-Spots@rice.edu Original-Date: 14 Jan 89 18:41:43 GMT X-Sun-Spots-Digest: Volume 7, Issue 111, message 5 of 18 SUN apparently does not sell a true color monitor. They sell one which has a pallet of 16.7 million colors but at a time one can display only 256 colors? Would you happen to be aware of any SUN compatible TRUE color monitor/hardware that would enable complete control over the three 8-bit image planes, for the purpose of display? Often what happens is that even though three 8-bit planes are available the D/A that controls the CRT beam intensity is only a 4-5 bits/plane D/A. Any useful pointers will be much appreciated. regards, prasad
