These workstations are located in a lab, and it is natural to put them in the domain of the lab YP server. There are quite a number of id's that are special to the lab. On the other hand, many of the users of the workstations have their id's administered on a central time sharing system which will in fact serve their directories. A convention is used for ranges of uids so that there is no conflict. Does anyone see a nice way to handle this? Right now we see no way other than to copy lots of passwd entries from the central system to the lab server.
